CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati junior guard Farad Cobb (West Palm Beach, Fla./NW Florida St. College) drained six three pointers to cap a 24-point performance, helping the Bearcats to a 69-61 win over Morehead State, Wednesday in Fifth Third Arena.

Cobb's career-high night featured an 8-for-14 shooting performance, including a 6-for-9 effort behind the arc. Cobb, who missed his only two shots in UC's opener, also added two steals and an assist. Cobb's previous career best came against Kansas on Nov. 15, 2012, setting the freshman record at Tennessee-Chattanooga, with 21 points on a 7-of-8 night from behind the arc.

Cincinnati (2-0) extended a 12-game non-conference home winning streak and moved to 64-9 in home non-league games under head coach Mick Cronin. Morehead State dropped to 1-2 on the season.

The Eagles tied things up 75 seconds into the second half with a 5-0 run knotting the score at 30 points apiece. UC took over from there, starting a 20-8 run over eight minutes, giving the Bearcats a 50-38 margin with 9:18 to go.

The run featured three triples from Cobb and two from Jermaine Sanders (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Rice). Sanders finished with eight points and five boards.

Morehead got within seven on four occasions, but would come no closer with the Bearcats earning an eight-point win.

Octavius Ellis (Memphis, Tenn./Trinity Valley CC) was 10-for-13 from the free-throw line, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Troy Caupain (Midlothian, Va./Cosby) tallied 13 points, six assists and five rebounds while Gary Clark (Clayton, N.C./Clayton) did the dirty work, pulling down eight boards.

Brent Arrington led the Eagles with 21 points, Angelo Warner finished with 14 points and six rebounds and Kareem Storey had 11 points and seven boards and seven assists.

UC led 30-25 at the break after a 13-point lead was erased in the final 2:29 of the half. Ellis and Arrington led their respective squads with 10 points apiece in the opening 20 minutes that saw the two squads combine to go 17-for-57 from the floor and 5-for-16 from behind the three-point line.

The teams traded the lead four times in a see-saw battle that also saw four ties in the first 15-plus minutes. With UC trailing by one, 17-16, with 6:55 to go, Ellis started a 14-0 run that spanned four-and-a-half minutes and gave the Bearcats a 30-17 edge with 2:29 left. During the run, Ellis had six of his team-high 10 first-half points and Cobb drained a pair of three-pointers.

UC would go cold offensively, going scoreless for the final two-and-a-half minutes of the half with the Eagles scoring the final eight points of the frame to pull within five heading into the locker room.

The Bearcats will return to the floor on Sunday, Nov. 23, beginning play in the Emerald Coast Classic against Eastern Illinois. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET inside Fifth Third Arena. UC will play two home games in the classic, taking on NC Central on Tuesday, Nov. 25, before traveling to Niceville, Fla. to face Middle Tennessee State on Friday, Nov. 29 and either Creighton or Ole Miss on Saturday, Nov. 29.
