MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Cincinnati volleyball team went ahead 1-0 early, but could not hold the lead, falling 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 17-25, 16-25) to the University of Memphis on Wednesday evening in Memphis, Tennessee.
Junior Morgan Allred (Carrolton, Texas/Hebron) led the Bearcats offensively with 11 kills while senior Jamie Netisingha (Westmont, Ill./Hinsdale Central) collected a match-high 22 digs to pace UC on the defensive end.

- With the loss, Cincinnati is now to 14-15 on the season and 6-11 in the American Athletic Conference while Memphis improves to 22-9 and 12-5. The Tigers are currently ranked third in the league.
- Netisingha has recorded double-digit digs in all but three matches this season. She also has hit the 20-dig mark on 12 occasions in 2014.
- For the third straight match, freshman Cortnee Bowser (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt) led the Bearcats in blocks, collecting four.
- With her 22 digs against Memphis, Netisingha has a total of 519 digs on the year, moving her into seventh on the UC individual season record book. She is one behind Trish Ladusaw who had 520 digs in 2002, and two digs behind Jaime Frey who totaled 521 digs in 2007.

" When we pass well, we play great" head coach Molly Alvey said. "We really played a sharp volleyball game in the first set today. Our passing broke down, so we struggled and lost momentum in the last sets."
// Set Breakdown
Set 1: UC 25, UM 21
- Cincinnati built a lead early in the set with three straight points to go ahead 8-5. A block by Allred and Bowser and a kill by freshman Christine Chandler (Milford, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led the Bearcats to the advantage.
- Memphis responded with a five-point run to take a 15-14 lead.
- With the score tied at 20-20, the Bearcats rattled off four consecutive points, including blocks by junior Emma Roberson (Brooks, Ky./Evansville)/Bowser and sophomore Lindsey Dinkelacker (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Louis)/Bowser, to take a 24-20 lead.
- A kill by Roberson from senior Madi Lang (Commerce Township, Mich./Florida Atlantic) ended the game at 25-21 and put the Bearcats up 1-0 in the match.
Set 2: UM 25, UC 22
- The Bearcats were down 17-15 before three straight points, including two kills by Nicholson, put UC ahead 18-17, forcing a Tigers timeout.
- Memphis answered out of the timeout with four straight points for a 21-18 lead and a Cincinnati timeout.
- Cincinnati fought off four game points for Memphis to get back to within 24-22. Dinkelacker and Netsingha each recorded a kill in the run.
- The Tigers finally finished the game with a kill to win the set 25-22 and tie the match at 1-1.
Set 3: UM 25, UC 17
- The Tigers opened up an 11-4 lead after a seven-point scoring run in the early stages of the third game.
- Memphis held the lead throughout and won the game 25-17.
Set 4: UM 25, UC 16
- Cincinnati surrendered six points to open the game before getting on the board with a Memphis error.
- The Bearcats climbed to within five points at 16-11 but the Tigers scored four straight to extend the lead to 19-12.
- Two UM errors and a kill by Roberson cut the UM lead to 24-16 but a solo block by the Tigers won the game at 25-16.

The Bearcats will return to Cincinnati to play their last home match of the 2014 season on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m. UC will be honoring its three seniors Madi Lang (Commerce Township, Mich./Florida Atlantic), Jamie Netisingha (Westmont, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and Me'Ashah Nicholson (Shiloh, Ill./Belleville Althoff) in a postmatch Senior Day ceremony.
