CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team lost a 60-50 battle against Tulane University on Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Arena. It was the first American Athletic Conference game of the season for the Bearcats.

// THE SHORT STORY: The Bearcats could not keep the Green Wave out of the paint, giving up 38 points under the basket compared to just the 14 points UC scored in the paint. Cincinnati did connect on seven three-point baskets, led by freshman Ana Owens (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) and junior Jasmine Whitfield (Crestwood, Ky./South Oldham) who each drained two triples.

- A jumper by sophomore Bianca Quisenberry (Springfield, Ohio/Tecumseh) gave the Bearcats their first lead of the game at 17-16, but Tulane responded with an 8-0 run, with points from four different players, to regain a 24-17 advantage.
- Overall, the Green Wave ended the first half on a 16-3 run, spanning the final six minutes and 26 seconds, to lead 32-20 at the half. UC's lone basket during the run was a three-pointer by senior Chelsea Jamison (Indianapolis, Ind./Broad Ripple) at the 2:37 mark.
- Cincinnati was on fire out of the break, opening the second half on an 8-0 run of its own. Back-to-back 3s by Quisenberry and Whitfield and an additional jumper from Quisenberry cut the TU lead to 32-28.
- Tulane surged on a 9-0 run to extend its lead to 43-33 at the 12:00 mark. Again, four different Green Wave players scored during the run.
- After finding themselves in a 60-44 hole late in the game, the Bearcats scored six quick points with a free throw by Quisenberry, a three-point basket by Owens and a layup by sophomore Brandey Tarver (Chicago, Ill./Bogan Computer Technical) for the final score of 60-50.

- Sunday's contest with Tulane marked the first conference game for both schools.
- UC recorded 14 assists in the contest, the third-straight game for UC with double-digit assists.
- UC's 50 points are the fewest scored by the Bearcats this season.
- UC was out-rebounded for the first time in the last four games, losing the battle on the boards by a 46-34 mark.
- The 20 offensive rebounds by Tulane are the second-most allowed by the Bearcats this season, with UCLA pulling down 21.
- UC's 17 turnovers is the highest total in the last three games, finishing with just 10 and 14 against Delaware and Detroit, respectively.
