ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams wrapped-up competition at Oakland (Mich.) on Saturday, competing in a quad meet with the host Golden Grizzlies, Kenyon and Olivet.
The women's team earned a second-place finish with 825 points, just behind Oakland's 971 points. Kenyon placed third and Olivet was in fourth. The UC men placed third behind Oakland and Kenyon, but defeating Olivet.
// KEIRE CONTINUES TO DOMINATE
Sophomore freestyler Jackie Keire (Burlington, Ont./Nelson) continued her domination of freestyle events, collecting first-place points for UC in the 50, 100, 200 and 500. She clocked in with a time of 23.57 in the 50, posted a mark of 51.15 in the 100, finished the 200 in 1:52.76 and touched the wall in 4:45.67 in the 500.
Keire has yet to lose an individual race since the calendar flipped to 2015 after winning all three freestyle events she competed in against Miami (Ohio) last week. She has also achieved the NCAA B qualifying standard in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyles.
// NIEHAUS COLLECTS WIN
Freshman Lindsey Niehaus (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) was the only other female to win an individual event on the weekend. She won the 100 backstroke, finishing in 56.94.
// DEPIERTRO COLLECTS POINTS
Another freshman, Ryan DePietro (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) won the 200 butterfly. He clocked in at 1:51.60 to win the race by over two seconds. DePietro also earned a second place finish in the 400 individual medley with a mark of 3:58.84.
// BEARCATS ON THE BOARD
Michael Arnold (Gahanna, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) and Mitch Beerse (Morrow, Ohio/Little Miami) finished second and third, respectively, on the three-meter board. The duo replicated the finishes on the one-meter board.
// OTHER HIGHLIGHTS
- Sara Wanasek (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) finished second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:32.46) while she also earned a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 5:07.79.
- Chris Bready collected a runner-up finish in the 500 freestyle with a mark of 4:35.10.
- Iuliia Fedoreeva (Barnaul, Russia/Barnaul) recorded second-place points in the 100 butterfly (58.90) and the 200 butterfly (2:08.99).
- Eitan Holder (Caracas, Venezuela/Aviv (Israel)) finished in second place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.47.
- Senior Helena Pikhartova (Prague, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Jana Nerudy) placed third in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:05.66 time and third in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:22.28 time.
- Senior Joey Ferreri (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley/Wyoming) placed third in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 9:44.08.
- Andrea Bartel earned a third-place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:09.65
- Shelby Spitz (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) joined Keire on the podium in the 200 freestyle, placing third thanks to a time of 1:55.42.
- Connor Davis placed third in the 200 freestyle (1:42.65).

The Bearcats will compete in a pair of meets next weekend. First they travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to face Southeastern Conference foe Alabama on Friday, Jan. 23. The next day they travel north up Interstate 65 to take on Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Following next weekend's action, there is just one meet remaining on the regular season slate, a senior day showdown with another SEC opponent, Kentucky, on Friday, Jan. 30, at the Keating Aquatics Center.
