The University of Cincinnati closed out the final day of the Gladstein Invitational on Saturday afternoon with eight top-three finishes.
Freshman Alex Bloom capped off his two day heptathlon and claimed third in his first career multi competition. The Wisconsin native utilized a collegiate best mark in the high jump of 6' 8.25" to aid him in reaching 4,693 total points, which ranks fifth all-time in the UC history.
Following the completion of the heptathlon, the field events started up at the Gladstein Fieldhouse, and the Bearcats continued to flourish.
Junior Macklin Tudor garnered Cincinnati's lone first-place finish of the day with a throw of 57-feet even in the shot put.
In the women's throws, Monica Phillips took second in the weight throw with a career best hurl of 59' 8.25".
A pair of top-five finishes for UC came from Tariq Sanders in the long jump (third, 22' 3") and Jordan Hardiman (fifth, 6' 7.5"). Hardiman's mark matches his career best.
On the track, Tevin Lloyd-Thompson snatched second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.06, while Sergio Villanueva came in fifth, respectively.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Je'Rica Sanders entered the finals with the top time, but she ended up finishing third overall with a time of 8.68. Javette Lee also raced and took seventh.
On the men's side, Bryan Cain garnered a third-place finish in a time of 8.08, and Kelvin Williams finished sixth with a career best time of 8.45.
After taking second in the 400-meter invitational yesterday, Kevin Konkoly bounced back Saturday to take third in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:22.76.
The Bearcats now look forward to the Armory Track Invitational in New York City on Jan. 30 and 31. The meet is annually one of the nation's top indoor events of the year, and it will feature some of the nation's top talent.
