BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Concluding one of its most grueling weekends of the regular season, the University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams got three individual wins while getting swept by Western Kentucky.
The day after competing at Southeastern Conference foe Alabama, Cincinnati traveled to face Western Kentucky. The men fell to the Hilltoppers, 183-115, while the women dropped the competition to WKU, 199-92.
// KEIRE GETS ANOTHER WIN
Sophomore Jackie Keire (Burlington, Ont./Nelson), who won twice Friday in Tuscaloosa, captured a victory in the 200 freestyle. She touched the wall in 1:50.00, just .24 ahead of WKU's Michelle Craddock.
Keire also placed second in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 50.90, just .02 behind Craddock. Both swimmers were ahead of the previous WKU pool record of 51.09. Keire also earned second-place points in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall in 5:04.49.
// BREADY TAKES THE 1,000
Freshman Chris Bready (Missouri City, Texas/Lawrence E. Elkins) won the 1,000 freestyle for the second time in as many days. The rookie won at WKU with a time of 9:27.36, just ahead of the Hilltoppers' Loui Little who finished in 9:28.92.
Bready also earned a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 4:40.99.
// DEPIETRO TAKES 200 FLY
The freshmen men continued their strong weekend with Ryan DePietro (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) taking the 200 butterfly. DePietro clocked in at 1:51.47 to win by nearly three seconds over WKU's Luca De Brito, who finished in 1:54.29.
DePietro also collected third-place points in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 1:54.66, and a runner-up finish in the 200 individual medley, with a mark of 1:54.31.
// BEARCATS ON THE BOARD
UC's top diving performances were three runner-up finishes. Jimmy McMahon (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) placed second on the men's three-meter board with a score of 266.62. Michael Arnold (Gahanna, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) was second on the one-meter board, scoring 221.92. On the women's side, Kaitlyn Woods (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville) placed second on the one-meter with a score of 140.62.

The Bearcats return home for their final regular season meet on Friday, Jan. 30, against Kentucky. The program will also honor all of its seniors in the home finale. It marks the final tune-up before the American Athletic Conference Championships are held Feb. 18-21 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
