CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team dropped a 56-44 decision to Memphis on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Arena. The Tigers used a second half run to build an 18 point lead and the Bearcats' rally couldn't close the gap closer than seven points.

// THE SHORT STORY
After a back and forth first half, Memphis went on a 14-4 run en route to building a lead as big as 18 points in the second half before holding on for the 56-44 victory. Cincinnati fought back, using a 14-3 run of its own to climb back within seven points, but a clutch three from Ariel Hearn put Memphis back up 10, 52-42, with 3:31 to play and the Bearcats would get no closer. UC recieved a double-double effort from Marley Hill (Cleveland, Ohio/Columbus Africentric), who's 11 points and 11 rebounds were good for her eighth double-double of the season.

- After Cincinnati held an early 8-4 lead, Memphis responded with an 8-0 run with all eight points from Rowser, including six from the foul line. The Tigers' run was snapped just over eight minutes into the game by a Jamison jumper that pulled the Bearcats within two, 12-10.
- Memphis opened the second half with a 14-4 run to build a 13-point lead, 39-26, with just over 15 minutes remaining.
- The Bearcats began fighting back with a 14-3 run to close the gap to seven, 49-42, with just less than four minutes left in the contest.

- Makenzie Cann finished 1-5 from three-point range against the Tigers. It marks the 15th time this season she has drained at least one three.
- Makenzie Cann and Ana Owens have each hit a three in 16 of 20 games this season.
- Marley Hill reached double digits in scoring for the 15th time this season and the 18th time in her career.
- Marley Hill recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. She led the Bearcats in both categories against the Tigers Wednesday night.
