CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season Sunday afternoon, taking down Butler University by a score of 6-1 at the Western Tennis & Fitness Club. This the third straight victory for Bearcats over the Bulldogs in as many years, out-scoring Butler by a combined mark of 19-2 in those meetings.

The duo of Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) and Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) grabbed the first doubles victory for the Bearcats with a score of 6-1. The combo held serve through the first five games until the Bulldogs were able to add their lone point.

The second court final mirrored the match on court No. 1 with Katya Bure (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) and Ali Miller (Portsmouth, Ohio/Portsmouth) also winning by a margin of 6-1.

The Bearcats were leading 5-2 on the third court when play was stopped after UC secured the doubles point with wins on the first and second courts.

Kelly Poggensee-Wei battled during a close match to pick up her first win of the season over Bailey Padgett of Butler. Poggensee-Wei's point secured the match win for the Bearcats.

In one of the most energetic matches of the day, Katya Bure picked up a first set win 2-6 before Kylie Haviland rallied to earn a 6-4 win in the second set and force a third-set tie break where she won 10-6

Ali Miller also saw her match go to a third-set tiebreaker after winning the first set 6-4. Konstantina Adami earned a 7-5 win in the second set before Ali Miller battled to a 12-10 victory in the tiebreak.

Lauren Bellinger capped a dominant weekend with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweep of her Butler counterpart, needing less than 30 minutes to earn her second singles win and fourth overall win during the weekend homestand.

Hannah Wille pulled away late in the first set against Michelle McFerran to earn a 6-3 win and carried that momentum into the second set where she earned a quick 6-0 win.

Natalia Abdalla saw her first singles action of the year and earned her first victory, recording a 6-4, 6-4 steady win over Jordan Minnick of Butler.
