CINCINNATI
- The University of Cincinnati baseball team has announced a partnership with the Vs. Cancer Foundation for the 2015 season. Together, the Bearcats will raise money to help fight pediatric cancer both nationally and locally as part of a national Vs. Cancer campaign.

The fundraiser will last throughout the season and culminate on Sunday, April 26, when the players and coaching staff will all shave their heads following a game against Tulane at Marge Schott Stadium.

After the team's original goal of $5,000 was nearly met in the first few weeks of the fundraiser, the Bearcats will look to double the goal by April 26. Fifty percent of the money raised by the Bearcats will fund national cancer research efforts while the other half will go directly to Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

The Vs. Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving kids' lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts. Founded in 2012 by childhood cancer survivor Chase Jones, Vs. Cancer has worked with hundreds of athletes, teams and communities nationwide to fund the comprehensive spectrum of the pediatric cancer battle: from research initiatives across the country to healing programs within local children's hospitals.

"As a cancer survivor, I couldn't be more inspired by the University of Cincinnati baseball team" said Vs. Cancer Founder and CEO Chase Jones. "They are proving that baseball can help kids beat cancer. With the money raised, we are giving half to national childhood research and the other half to Cincinnati Children's Hospital, directly impacting the children being treated there.

"In the amount of time it takes to play one inning of baseball, five kids will be diagnosed with cancer worldwide. With the help of teams like the University of Cincinnati, we are committed to giving more kids their childhoods' back."

Since its inception, the Vs. Cancer Foundation has raised over $1.4 million directly impacting over 40,000 children with cancer in 50 respective hospitals, and actively changing the outcomes for kids currently undergoing treatment.
