- Head coach Ty Neal and the University of Cincinnati baseball coaching staff welcomed fans and the UC Diamond Club to the fifth annual First Pitch Reception on Friday, Feb. 6, at the Reds Urban Youth Academy. Over 150 people were in attendance to help kick off the start of the 2015 UC baseball season.

The program's featured speakers included Charley Frank of the Reds Community Fund, UC director of athletics Mike Bohn and Neal, and closed with special guest speaker Marty Brennaman, the Hall of Fame broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds.

"The team is taking ownership of the program, of their academics and of getting better," Neal said of his team at the event. The skipper also discussed the quality of baseball in the American Athletic Conference and the fall leadership training the Bearcats used to prepare for the season.

Brennaman spoke on the progression of UC baseball and also discussed the Cincinnati Reds. "I am very impressed with Coach Neal and with the UC team," he said. "This school has such a great athletic program."

The Bearcats begin the 2015 season in Starkville, Mississippi, on Friday, Feb. 13, with a doubleheader against Miami (Ohio) and No. 20 Mississippi State. The first home game of the season will be played on Tuesday, March 3, vs. crosstown rival Xavier at 3 p.m.
