The University of Cincinnati track & field programs struggled on the opening day of the SPIRE D1 Invitational in Geneva, Ohio. The Bearcats competed in just four events and tallied one personal best mark.
Junior Macklin Tudor set a career best mark in the weight throw as he tossed the weight 57 4.75". Tudor took 15th overall while teammate Josh Province finished 12th with a toss of 59' 2.75".
On the women's side of the weight throw, Frida Akerstrom was the top finisher as she grabbed eighth with a hurl of 57' 7". Monica Phillips followed with a 10th-place finish.
Cincinnati recorded some good times in the 200-meter dash on both the men's and women's side.
On the men's side, Nick Kowaleski led the way with a time of 22.15, which was six-hundredths off his personal best. Tevin-Lloyd Thompson also came close to his career best by running 22.22.
Kenya Woodall was the lone competitor for the women in the 200-meter dash as she took 19th overall with a time of 25.09, respectively.
Greg Sanders closed out the night with a time of 15:29.43 in the 5,000-meter run, which was just two seconds off his indoor personal record.
The Bearcats return to action tomorrow with field events beginning at 10 a.m. and running events slated for 10:30 a.m.
