CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team picked up their third win of the season after nearly sweeping Bowling Green 6-1.

The Bearcats were able to pull out a sweep in doubles play to claim the first point of the match. In the first flight, Poggensee-Wei and Bellinger fought off BG's Miller and Hutchinson 7-5. In court two and three the Bearcats blew by their respected opponents dominating 12-1. Bure and Miller claimed the sweep taking down Floyd and Witt 6-0 and Abdalla and Wille had a nearly idential margin of victory, 6-1.

Poggensee-Wei extended her singles win streak to five after her match against Hutchinson. The junior had a commanding start, winning her first set 6-0 and carring the momentum to the second flight to earn a 6-2 win.

Miller had a strong showing as well taking down Witt by a margin of 6-4, 6-1. The Portsmouth native has yet to drop a singles match in her young career upping her mark to 5-0 on the year.



Bellinger was able to bounce back from her loss against Toledo with a dominating win. The sophomore showcased a sweep of her own in the first set and was almost able to duplicate it during the second set winning 6-1.



Wille took down her opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. With the win she raised her record to the .500 mark holding a 3-3 mark.



Abdalla was able to continue the scene of a sweep in her first set and would follow that up with a 6-2 victory in the second set.

"Today was a nice response to yesterday's outcome. Next week will be a very important weekend as we will run up against two tough opponents in Temple and Ball State," stated Toth. "Coach West and I expect to be at our competative best and look forward to the matches."

Cincinnati will return home after a four-game road swing to a pair of weekend matches. The Bearcats will face conference foe Temple on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. and will wrap up against Ball State on Sunday, Feb 22 at 1 p.m. Both matches will take place at Western Tennis & Fitness Center.
