LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team played a ranked team for the second time in three days on Sunday, falling at No. 13/15 Louisville, 17-8, on Sunday afternoon.

The loss dropped the Bearcats to 0-2 on the season following Friday's loss to No. 11 Notre Dame. It was the season-opener for the Cardinals.

Cincinnati hung around in the early going, getting early goals from Courtney Curtis and Megan Bell before the Cardinals used a 7-1 scoring run late in the first half and early in the second half to pull away.

After the Cardinals jumped out to a 2-0 lead, Miller found the back of the net to cut the deficit in half. The goal was unassisted.

11:26 1st - Megan Bell (UC)
With Louisville scoring the next two goals, the Bearcats again cut the deficit in half. This time it was Bell, taking a pass from freshman Abby Lord (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) to make it 4-2.

24:57 2nd - Faye Brust (UofL)
Brust scored unassisted to cap a 7-1 Cardinal scoring run that opened up the hosts' lead to 11-3 early in the second half.

13:30 2nd - Courtney Curtis (UC)
Curtis netted a free position goal, her second in a span of 10 minutes, that capped three-straight goals for Cincinnati and cut the deficit to 11-6.

  • The hat trick gives Curtis six goals on the season after she also netted a hat trick against 11th-ranked Notre Dame on Friday.
