University of Cincinnati freshman Adrian Valles broke the Bearcats 10-year old pole vault school record at the Ohio State Tune-Up on Friday night.

// RECORD BREAKING VAULT
On his third and final attempt at 17' 11.25", Valles soared over the bar to win the pole vault and break the 10-year old school record previously held by Chris Smith at 17' 9", which he cleared in 2005. The Spaniard now leads the conference heading into next week's league competition and also sits tied for 11th nationally.

// SMALL BUT MIGHTY
Cincinnati had just 11 competitors at the tune-up meet, but the small contingency brought home six top-five finishes. Valles and Sarah Rasnick led the way with each garnering pole vault titles.

// BEARCATS BREAKING RECORD
The Bearcats have been recording record breaking performances all season with five individuals claiming school records this indoor season. Valles joins Macklin Tudor (men's shot put), Frida Akerstrom (women's shot put), Kelsey Mueller (women's 1,000m) and Rebecka Abrahamsson (women's triple jump).

// NEXT UP
The Bearcats now head to the American Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. The meet will be held at the New Balance Track in the Armory in New York City on February 27-28.
