CINCINNATI - In a match that went down to the wire, The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker to Ball State on Sunday afternoon inside Western Tennis & Fitness Club by a 4-3 score.

The Bearcats were unable to get the first point of the match as they dropped decisions on courts two and three by a score of 6-4, and 6-3. The duo of Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) and Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North had a 5-4 lead when the doubles point was decided.

After starting off the singles match down 4-1, Poggensee-Wei would win six of the next seven games to take the first set by a score of 7-5. The Lake Villa native carried her momentum into the second set to win handily 6-3.
Bellinger began her singles match on a strong note, putting her opponent away in the first set 6-2. She allowed just three points to her opponent in the second set to earn a 6-3 win and give the Bearcats the first win in singles action.
Abdalla made light of her opponent in the first set sweeping her 6-0. During the second set a back-and-forth battle occured and Large of Ball State was able to hold off Abdalla, winning the second set 6-4. The freshman would follow up in the deciding tiebreaker with a commanding performance winning 10-2.
Miller saw her undefeated singles streak snapped in a closely contested match. After winning the first set in a tiebreaker Miller dropped the second set 6-4. Miller fell behind 3-0 after the first three games of the third-set tiebreaker but bounced back winning four of the next six games but ultimately dropped the game by a 6-4 score.
