The University of Cincinnati track & field programs finished out the Akron Invitational on Saturday with 11 top-eight finishes and a handful of career best performances.
Adrian Valles has one of the strongest days as he finished second in the pole vault with a new career best height of 17' 6.5". His mark ranks second in the American Athletic Conference and tied for 16th in the nation. Valles also moves to third in UC history his performance.
Valles' fellow Spaniard Sergio Acera Villaneuva also shined on Saturday as he was the runner-up in the long jump. His collegiate best jump of 23' 11.25" ranks seventh all-time in Bearcats history and third on this season's American indoor performance list.
Tariq Sanders also garnered a top-five finish in the long jump as he leapt 22' 10" to earn fifth overall, respectively.
In the triple jump, Chris Greene grabbed third with a career best jump of 48' 4". His mark ranks fourth in UC history and sixth on the 2015 American performance list.
Junior Ashleigh Pickens had a two quality performances on Saturday as she finished fifth in the triple jump and sixth in the high jump. She jumped 34' 2.25" in the triple jump, which is her indoor best. In the high jump, she cleared 5' 7", which is also her indoor best and ranks seventh in UC history. Her high jump mark also puts her in a tie for fifth on conference's performance list.
In the throws, Josh Province roped in the lone victory of the weekend for Cincinnati as he wont he weight throw with a toss of 59' 10.25".
Hannah Christ garnered the Bearcats' top finish on the track as she was fourth in the 3,000-meter run. Her time of 10:37.99 serves as her collegiate best.
Additional top-eight performances came from Brian Barney (sixth, 800-meter run), Kelvin Williams (seventh, 60-meter hurdles) and Anthony Car (eighth, 4:17.35).
Cincinnati returns to the track next weekend as they travel to Geneva, Ohio for the SPIRE D1 Invitational on Valentines Day.
