CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati baseball team dropped a 9-1 decision to the University of Kentucky on Wednesday afternoon at Marge Schott Stadium. The game was originally supposed to be played at Kentucky, but was moved to Cincinnati because of the field conditions at UK.

- With the loss, the Bearcats' record is now 4-10 while Kentucky improves to 13-3 on the season.
- Head coach Ty Neal penciled six freshmen into the starting lineup and has started at least four youngsters in each game this season. Freshmen Ryan Noda (Volo, Ill./Grant) and Manny Rodriguez Rodriguez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Calvert Hall) have started all 13 games for UC.
- Freshman J.J. Carr (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic) registered two hits to mark his third multi-hit game of the season.
- Junior Ian Happ (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) recorded his sixth double of the year.
- Sophomore Jake Richmond (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) tallied 15 putouts from first base, one shy of his season high.
- Kentucky junior outfielder Ka'ai Tom hit fir the cycle in the game, recording a double in the first inning, a triple in the third inning, a homerun in the sixth inning and a single in the eighth inning.

Top of the SecondAfter scoring one run in the top of the first, Kentucky scored the eventual winning run in the second to go ahead 2-0. Storm Wilson tripled to left center and scored on a groundout two batters later.
Bottom of the Second
Cincinnati scored its only run of the ballgame in the second with a designed double steal that scored freshman Kyle Mottice (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Jackson) from third. With runners on the corners for Rodriguez, freshman Joey Thomas (Mason, Ohio/Mason) took off from first for a successful steal of second, allowing Mottice time to trot home and cut the UK lead to 2-1.
Top of the Third
The Wildcats added to their lead in the third a wild pitch brought home Tom from third base.
Top of the Sixth
UK put up a 3-spot off four hits in the sixth, including a two-run homerun from Tom to increase the UK lead to 7-1.

Cincinnati will close out a seven-game homestand with three games against Toledo March 13, 14 and 15 at Marge Schott Stadium. The first games of the series will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday.
