University of Cincinnati senior Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome High School) was tied with two other players for 17th place at 1-under par 70-48=118 when play was suspended due to weather Monday midway through the second round at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.

Completion of second-round play as well as final-round action is scheduled to take place Tuesday at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.

Howard's opening-round 2-under 70 was the best score carded by a Bearcat in the first round. He started 3-under after his first seven holes before double bogies on holes No. 5 and 7 slowed his momentum. However, he rebounded with three birdies and five par scores to finish the round. Through 12 holes in second-round action Howard has one birdie, two bogies and nine par scores to register a 1-over 48.

The Bearcats are seventh in the team standings at 5-over 289-194=483 entering Tuesday. UC was tied for fourth after the first round at 1-over 289 and is 4-over 163 after 12 holes in the second round. Ole Miss leads the 15-team field at 7-under 286-163=449.

"Today was a good day," UC head coach Doug Martin said. "We have some positive things finally happening for us. We still must work to eliminate our unforced errors over our remaining holes."

Senior John Michael O'Toole (Pinson, Ala./Pinson Valley High School/Central Alabama CC) is tied with four players for 20th place at even par 74-46=120 after 12 holes. Senior Baxter Reeves (Montgomery, Ala./Brewbaker Tech/Central Alabama CC) and sophomore Jared O'Kelley (Canton, Ga./Creekview High School) are tied for 37th place at 3-over 119. Through 13 holes, Reeves has a 74-53=127 while O'Kelley owns a 71-48=119 ledger through 11 holes. Sophomore Brennen Walsh (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder High School) is tied for 77th place at 10-over 78-47=125 through 11 holes.

South Alabama's Tyler Klava leads the 84-player field at 7-under 70-43=113 through 12 holes.
