The Bearcats rolled to an early lead against the Norse, with wins on courts No. 1 and 3 by 6-0 and 6-1 margins respectively. UC was leading 3-2 on court No. 2 when play was halted.

The Norse rebounded quickly to start singles play with NKU taking leads in several matches. Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) found herself down 3-0 before she ran the table en route to a 6-3 win over Hailey Shanahan in the first set.

Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) found herself in a similar situation on court No. 3, trailing 4-1 in the first set. Bellinger took control from there to earn a 6-4 win in the first set. In a back-and-forth second set, Lauren trailed 6-5 late before picking up the final game to force a third-set tiebreaker where she won handily 7-1.

Hannah Wille (St. Louis, Mo/Parkway Central) earned the first singles point for UC, making quick work of her opponent to earn a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Katya Bure (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) fought off a late second-set comeback from Rheanna Morehart to earn her win by scores of 6-3 and 6-0.
