University of Cincinnati senior Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome High School) carded his best three-round tournament score of the year, posting a 4-under par 70-72-70=212 Tuesday to tie for 11th place at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.

Howard completed Monday's weather-suspended second round by registering a 2-under par over his final 10 holes to finish at even par 72. He was steady throughout the final round posting par or better scores on 17 of 18 holes, including three birdies, to end the round at 2-under 70.

Howard's 4-under 211 score matches his three-round total tallied at last season's Old Waverly event that resulted in a fourth-place finish.

Casey Fernandez of Southern Miss won medalist honors on Tuesday after carding an 11-under 71-68-66=205.

Cincinnati finished the team standings in 11th place at 17-over 289-293-299=881. UAB (14-under 285-279-286=850) won the team crown after finishing one stroke ahead of Florida (13-under 289-278-284=851).

UC senior John Michael O'Toole (Pinson, Ala./Pinson Valley High School/Central Alabama CC) registered his fifth top-25 finish of the year, tying for 22nd place at 1-over 74-71-72=217. Fellow senior Baxter Reeves (Montgomery, Ala./Brewbaker Tech/Central Alabama CC) and sophomore Jared O'Kelley (Canton, Ga./Creekview High School) tied for 62nd place at 11-over 227. Reeves ended the tournament at 74-74-79=227 while O'Kelley turned in a 71-77-79=227. Sophomore Brennen Walsh (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder High School) tied for 77th place at 16-over 78-76-78=232.

"There are a lot of positive things happening for the team but we're just committing too many errors right now," UC head coach Doug Martin said. "We finished the tournament second for total birdies but couldn't use that to our advantage."
