Tournament Live Scoring/Results
The University of Cincinnati men's golf team takes part in the Hoosier Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the IU Golf Course (par 71; 6,813 yards) in Bloomington, Indiana.
The 54-hole tournament features 36 holes of action on Saturday with the final round scheduled for Sunday.
The 17-team field also includes: Bradley, Dayton, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, Illinois State, host Indiana, IPFW, IUPUI, Miami (Ohio), Oakland, Toledo, Western Illinois, Wisconsin, Xavier and Youngstown State.
"We have an opportunity this weekend to compete and get in contention to win a tournament," UC head coach Doug Martin said.
UC is coming off an 11th-place finish at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship on Tuesday. Two Bearcat seniors posted top 25 scores. Jared Howard (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome High School) carded his best tournament score of the year, tying for 11th place at 4-under par 211. John Michael O'Toole (Pinson, Ala./Pinson Valley High School/Central Alabama CC) earned his fifth top-25 finish of the year, tying for 22nd place at 1-over 217.
Howard and O'Toole will compete in Bloomington along with senior Baxter Reeves (Montgomery, Ala./Brewbaker Tech/Central Alabama CC) and sophomores Jared O'Kelley (Canton, Ga./Creekview High School) and Brennen Walsh (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder High School).
Howard leads all Bearcats with a 74.08 stroke average, followed by O'Toole (74.12) and Reeves (74.92).
"Our good golf is very good right now," Martin said. "The thing that made us so good last year was our ability to make birdies. We finished our last tournament earlier this week ranked second in the number of birdies made and that was against a competitive field.
"Errors are going to happen in golf. We just need to be able to recover from them," Martin said. "We need to work on the process, stay committed to every shot and eliminate unforced errors."
The Hoosier Invitational tees off at 8:30 a.m. ET on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. Tournament live scoring and results are available at GolfStat.com.
