CINCINNATI- The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team picked up their third conference win of the year after sweeping East Carolina by a score of 4-0.

The Bearcats had fallen behind early after dropping the first doubles match on court No. two 6-2. Cincinnati was able to bounce back in courts No. one and three to pick up the doubles point and take the 1-0 lead going into singles action.

The Bearcats continued their momentum from doubles play into single action.Kelly Poggensee-Wei(Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) made light of her opponent as she was able to take her down by a margin of 6-2, 6-1.

Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/ Dublin Jerome) was next to take her adversary down after going into a tiebreaker in the first set but was able to hold on to win 7-6 (2). Bellinger would dominate Sarjoo in the second set sweeping her 6-0 to give the Bearcats a 3-0 lead.

Ali Miller(Portsmouth, Ohio/Portsmouth) picked up the fourth and final point to give the Bearcats the win. Miller started strong winning her first set 6-1. Miller wastaken the distance in the second set, with the match requiring a tiebreaker, but the Portsmouth native was able to hold on 7-6 (5)

"I'm really proud of how our girls handled some really adverse, windy conditions today to beat a good East Carolina team. We need to follow up today's performance with another strong showing against a good UCONN team tomorrow to put us in good position heading into next week's AAC tournament."

The Bearcats will close their regular season when they face conference rival UCONN on Sunday, April 12.
