CINCINNATI
-- Head coach Molly Alvey and the University of Cincinnati volleyball team released its 2015 schedule on Wednesday. The slate will feature 31 matches with 15 matches played at home in Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats will play 20 games in American Athletic Conference action, 10 at home and 10 on the road.

"Of course, we are all really excited about finalizing our schedule for this fall" said head coach Molly Alvey. This time of year always has an energizing effect as our players start returning to campus and as a staff we finalize plans for fall training. Our schedule being released is another reminder of how extremely close we are to the start of the 2015 season."

The season kicks off with the second-annual Queen City Classic, a joint tournament hosted by Cincinnati and Xavier, on Aug. 28 and 29. The tournament begins on Friday with a neutral site match at Fifth Third Arena between Northern Kentucky and Eastern Michigan at Noon before the Bearcats open the season against EMU at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Cincinnati will host NKU at Noon and crosstown rival Xavier at 6 p.m.

"We open the season with the second Queen City Classic which includes local rivals Xavier and NKU" Alvey said. "Having our neighboring competitors join the field presents an exciting tournament for our community, fans, and volleyball alumnae. We hope to see a lot of people cheering us on at this tournament."

The Bearcats will spend the next two weekends on the road participating a pair of regular-season tournaments. First, the team will head to Cleveland, Ohio, for the Cleveland State Classic on Sept. 4 and 5 to face Binghamton, Central Michigan and Cleveland State. Cincinnati will then travel to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the Butler Tournament on Sept. 11 and 12 where it will match up against Northern Illinois, UIC and Butler.

The Bearcats return to Fifth Third Arena for two matches against regional rival Louisville on Sept. 17 and SIUE on Sept. 19.

"I believe our schedule is very well-rounded in our non-conference play and it should prepare us well for battle in The American" Alvey said.

American Athletic Conference action kicks off on Sept. 23 and UC will face each team in the league in a home-and home series. The Bearcats will host matches on Sept. 23 (Memphis -- 7 p.m.), Sept. 25 (East Carolina -- 7 p.m.), Oct. 9 (UCF -- 7 p.m.), Oct. 11 (USF -- 1 p.m.), Oct. 30 (Temple -- 7 p.m.), Nov. 1 (UConn -- 1 p.m.), Nov. 6 (Tulsa -- 7 p.m.), Nov. 8 (SMU -- 1 p.m.), Nov. 25 (Houston -- 7 p.m.) and Nov. 27 (Tulane -- 2 p.m.)
