CINCINNATI
-- The University of Cincinnati got a good pitching performance from starting pitcher Tanner Schimmoeller (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf) but could not manage to score, falling 6-0 to Ohio State on Wednesday night at Marge Schott Stadium.

Schimmoeller tossed a career-high 7.0 innings, scattering just six hits while recording two strikeouts.

// NOTABLES
     - With the loss, Cincinnati falls to 15-32 on the year while Ohio State moves to 33-13.

     - Junior Ian Happ (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was walked for the 121st time in his career. The mark is good for 4th on the all-time UC list and the outfielder needs just one more to move into a tie for third.

     - Freshman Kyle Mottice (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Jackson) singled in the first inning to extend his hit streak to a team-high seven games.
     - The official attendance for the game was 1,072 -- the second-highest attendance at Marge Schott Stadium this season.

// KEY INNINGS
Top of the First
Ohio State grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the first inning when Pat Porter hit a 2-run homerun over the fence in left center field in just the third at bat of the game.
Top of the Eighth
The Buckeyes broke open a close game in the eighth, scoring four runs on four hits and two UC errors to jump ahead 6-0. Cincinnati used four pitchers in the inning, sending Schimmoeller and freshmen Jarod Yoakam (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville), J.T. Perez (Orrville, Ohio/Orrville) and David Orndorff (Pasadena, Calif./Pasadena Polytechnic) to the mound. Back-to-back hits into right field scored the first run for OSU but Happ made a pair of great throws from the outfield to keep the damage to a minimum. A fielder's choice scored an additional run before two UC errors brought home two more for the 6-0 OSU lead.
