CINCINNATI -- University of Cincinnati junior baseball player Ian Happ (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was named Capital One Academic All-District 5 as announced by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon.
Through 47 games played, the outfielder is leading the team with a .366 batting average, to pace the American Athletic Conference. He also leads the league with a .683 slugging percentage and a .490 on base percentage. He has recorded 60 hits with 13 homeruns and 112 total bases while leading the American with 42 walks.
In addition to his athletic abilities, Happ has recorded a 3.68 GPA as a finance major in three years at Cincinnati.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month and in early June.
