A quartet of University of Cincinnati sophomores-to-be shined Friday at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The Bearcats had two student-athletes finish top eight in Alex Bloom and Annette Echikunwoke, while Jaashir Morris qualified for the finals after finishing fourth in the 400-meter hurdle semifinals.
// BLOOM FINISHES SIXTH IN THE JUNIOR'S DECATHLON
The sophomore-to-be from Seymour, Wisconsin, grabbed sixth place in the junior division of the decathlon with a lifetime best score of 6,785 points. Bloom utilized personal best marks in the 110-meter hurdles, discus and javelin to reach his new career best.

// MORRIS QUALIFIES FOR 400M HURDLES FINAL
The Edison, New Jersey, native clocked a lifetime best of 52.61 in the 400-meter hurdles during Friday's semifinal. Morris automatically qualified for the finals with his third-place finish in the first heat. Overall, the sophomore-to-be ran the fourth fastest time among all competitors. If he finishes top two in tomorrow's final, he will qualify for the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada. Morris also slips into the Bearcats' all-time records book with the 10th fastest time in program history.
// ECHIKUNWOKE SNATCHES EIGHTH PLACE
Echikunwoke had a quality day in the junior's shot put as she finished eighth overall with a hurl of 47' 9.25". The Pickerington, Ohio, native utilized her fifth throw of the competition to move into seventh place, but another competitor bumped her back to eighth during the final round of throws.
// BARNES NARROWLY MISSES 100M HURDLE FINALS
UC sophomore-to-be Aliya Barnes narrowly missed the finals of the 100-meter hurdles by one-tenth of a second. The hurdler crossed the line at 14.11, and the final spot in Friday night's final was 14.00 by Taylor Pegram of UNLV.

The Bearcats will have three athletes competing on Saturday with all participating in their respective finals. At 7 p.m. ET, Loretta Blaut will begin jumping in the junior division of the high jump. Morris runs the 400m hurdles final for the junior division at 7:51 p.m. ET. Capping off the day is Dan Huben in the junior division of the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
