CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving programs collected academic honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America last week. Both the men's and women's teams were named Scholar All-America Teams, while a pair of swimmers collected individual Scholar All-America honors.

The men's and women's teams were among over 400 programs which posted at least a 3.0 grade point average for the year. The women's team recorded a 3.37 GPA, while the men posted a 3.11 GPA. Individually, rising sophomore Lindsey Niehaus (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) and 2015 graduate Helena Pikhartova (Prague, Czech Republic) both received honorable mention honors for recording at least a 3.50 GPA and achieving a B-Qualifying standard in at least one event.

"The Bearcats are getting it done in the pool and in the classroom and I'm very proud of their dedication to being successful student-athletes," said head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle.

It marks the second consecutive year UC had an individual named Scholar All-American, as Jacqueline Keire earned the nod last year. It also capped a strong academic year on the men's side, as the male swimmers were recognized for posting a perfect Academic Progress Rate of 1,000 by the NCAA in May.
