CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati volleyball team was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) for its academic excellence during the 2014-15 season, earning the annual Team Academic Award.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA.
The Bearcats recorded a 3.475 GPA for the school year and a 3.648 mark in the spring semester, the highest of all UC athletic teams. Seven players managed above a 3.5 GPA while senior Emma Roberson (Brooks, Ky./Evansville) and sophomore Parker Shepherd (McKinney, Texas/McKinney Boyd) each recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs for the school year.
