Final Stats

The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to No. 21 DePaul in front of a Gettler Stadium crowd of 1,054. The Blue Demons netted a goal in the final minute of play to escape Cincinnati, Ohio, with a win in both squads' season opener.

The Bearcats (0-1-0) fell behind midway through the first half when Elise Wyatt of DePaul was fouled inside of the 18-yard box to receive a penalty kick. Wyatt, who tallied 11 goals last fall, drove the penalty kick inside the left post and under a diving Natalie Smith.

UC answered knotted the score up early in the second half as sophomore Julie Gavorski headed in a long throw-in from sophomore transfer Taylor Pavlika.

It looked as if the two foes would head into overtime until Elizabeth Endy beat a Cincinnati defender to the end line and crossed a ball to Ana Greik for a one-timer and the game-winning goal.
