CINCINNATI
- The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fought to tie the match after the second set but could not maintain the momentum, falling to the University of Louisville 3-1 (20-15, 30-28, 11-25, 15-25) on Thursday evening in Fifth Third Arena

// NOTABLES
- With the loss, Cincinnati falls to 7-3 while Louisville improves to 6-3 on the season.
- Freshman Jordan Thompson (Edina, Minn./Edina) led the Bearcats with 11 kills to just two errors for a .333 hitting percentage.
- The Bearcats recorded 10.0 blocks and have reached double-digit blocks in five matches this season.
- Sophomore Parker Shepherd (McKinney, Texas/McKinney Boyd) and freshman Jade Tingelhoff (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) each tallied 16 assists to pace the Bearcats' offense.
- Junior Ciara Hill (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) led the Bearcats at the net with five blocks including two of the solo variety.

// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UofL 25, UC 20

- Louisville scored three straight points on three kills to take a 6-3 lead and force an early timeout by head coach Molly Alvey. Out of the break, Thompson scored on a kill to get UC within 6-4.
- Three straight UC points got the Bearcats within a point at 17-16. A kill by Hill and a block by Thompson led the rally for Cincinnati.
- Back-to-back UC errors gave the Cardinals set point at 24-19, and after a kill by freshman Carly Nolan (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South), UofL put the game away with a kill by Tess Clark.
Set 2: UC 30, UofL 28
- The Bearcats broke a 7-7 tie with a kill by Thompson and a block by senior Emma Roberson (Brooks, Ky./Evansville) and sophomore Maya Muldrow (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) to go ahead 9-7.
- Back-to-back kills from Hill put UC ahead 15-11 and forced the Cardinals into a timeout.
- Louisville responded with four straight points to tie the game at 20-20 and took a 23-22 lead on a service ace.
- The teams traded points until the Bearcats used kills by Muldrow and Nolan and an attack error by UofL to win the marathon set 30-28.
Set 3: UofL 25, UC 11
- Cincinnati faced a manageable four-point deficit until a 10-point UofL scoring run put the Cardinals ahead 21-9.
- A kill by UofL's Maya McClendon gave the Cardinals the third-set victory.
Set 4: UofL 25, UC 15
- The Bearcats again fell victim to the UofL scoring run, giving up at least three points at a time on four occasions in the final game.
- Nolan led the Bearcats with three kills in the game but UC committed five errors to aid in Louisville's victory.

Cincinnati closes out non-conference action on Saturday, Sept. 19, when it hosts SIU-Edwardsville at 1 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena.
