Bearcats Take Down Green Bay, 2-0

Sept. 17, 2015

Box Score

CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team received a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 decision over Green Bay on Thursday night at Gettler Stadium.

Jack Clark (Mason, Ohio/Mason) struck in the first half, while Emmanuel Appiah (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central) connected in the second 45 for the goals. Alex Gill (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) made three saves in recording a clean sheet and head coach Hylton Dayes' squad saw American Athletic Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year John Manga (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) return to the lineup for his first action of the season.

The victory was the second straight for Cincinnati as it now takes a five-day break before traveling to Cleveland State next week. With the exception of a week separating the final two matches of the regular season, the Bearcats are entering their longest stretch of the season without a match. The Cleveland State match last season is the final non-conference contest before play in The American opens with Temple on Sept. 26.

// GOAL SCORING SUMMARY

32' - CIN Jack Clark (Adam Wilson)
Wilson set up for a free kick just outside the 18 and tried to send it on goal. The strike hit the far post and ricocheted across the six-yard box to Clark who cleaned it up after the Green Bay keeper dove for the initial Wilson shot.

57' - CIN Emmanuel Appiah (Stefan Bangsund & Alejandro Garcia)
Garcia played it down the left side and crossed it into Bangsund. Bangsund deflected it back outside the box and without hesitation Appiah ripped it into the upper 90 from 25 yards out.
