MILWAUKEE - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team completed the first day of action at the three-day Milwaukee Tennis Classic Friday evening with UC winning four singles matches and one doubles match.
// DOUBLES
Kelly Poggensee-Wei (Lake Villa, Ill./Grayslake North) and Lauren Bellinger (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome) teamed up to win UC's only doubles match of the day. Playing on court No. 1, the duo won by a score of 6-3. Florida International was victorious on court No. 2 and court No. 3 to wrap up doubles action.
// SINGLES
In singles action, UC won a total of four matches against Marquette. Poggensee-Wei won by scores of 6-3, 6-2 on court No. 1 while Bellinger earned the win 6-3, 6-3. Antonella Bramato (Pachuca, Mexico/Elise Freinet) recorded her first collegiate victory on court no. 5 by scores of 6-1, 6-2. Natalia Abdalla (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Augusto Laranja) recorded the final UC win on court No. 6 after winning a close first set 7-5 before making quick work of 6-1 second set win.
