CLEVELAND -- The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team scored early to take a 1-0 lead into the half, but dropped a 3-1 decision at Cleveland State on Wednesday night.

Stefan Bangsund (Kent, Wash./Highline College) scored in the seventh minute to give UC a 1-0 lead it carried into intermission. The Bearcats then allowed three second-half goals and dropped a 3-1 decision.

Bangsund took a shot from roughly 25 yards out and beat the keeper off the right post to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead that would stand until early in the second half.

DiFranco evened the match early in the second half, dribbling through the middle and beating UC keeper Alex Gill (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) from 10 yards out.

51' - CSU Dan Koniarczyk (Jake Lagania)
Koniarczyk gave the Vikings the lead for good just four minutes later, taking a cross from Lagania on the left and one-touching it past Gill.

79' - CSU Jake Lagania (Antonio Burgoa)
Lagania scored an insurance goal to reach three points on the evening, finishing a cross from Burgoa at the top of the box.

// GAME NOTES

- Bangsund scored his first goal of the season and first of his career.
- It marks the first Cleveland State win over UC since 2002, when the Vikings took a 3-2 decision in Cleveland.
