CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team suffered its first setback of the season on Thursday night at Gettler Stadium, falling to ACC foe Virginia Tech, 5-1.
The Hokies led most the match, taking a 1-0 led in just the second minute. UC's Adam Wilson (Auchterarder, Scotland/Dollar Academy) equalized the match with his first-career goal in th 8th minute, but another Hokie goal in the 15th minute put the guests up for good.

The Hokies struck early when Baus put a corner into traffic and Lauretano finished it past Gill into the right corner.
8' - CIN Adam Wilson
Wilson took advantage of a misplay by Virginia Tech of equalize the match. Lundgaard tried to clear it and the VT midfield misplayed it as they tried to advance it to midfield. Wilson found the ball, then turned and fired from 35 yards out, finding the upper-right corner for his first career goal..
15' - VT Ricardo John (Ousmane Sanogo)
The Hokies took the lead for good when the Bearcats tried to draw John offside. Sanogo played it just behind the UC defenders and John won a one-on-one with Gill to net the game-winning goal.
29' - VT Merlin Baus (PK)
Baus converted a penalty kick after UC's Ben Keane was whistled for a foul in the box.
51' - VT Dylan Huber (Merlin Baus)
The Hokies again capitalized on a Baus corner kick into traffic. This time, Huber was there to convert and push the visitors' lead to 4-1.
85' - VT Reece Alexander
Alexander won the ball back from the UC defense just outside the top of the box and blasted it into the upper-right corner for the final score of the match.

- It was the first defeat of the season for UC.
- Virginia Tech improves to 9-3-0 all-time against Cincinnati. This was just the second meeting since 1991.
- Wilson's goal was the first of his UC career.
