CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati celebrated a historic fall semester in the classroom during halftime of the men's basketball win over Houston on Wednesday evening at Fifth Third Arena. The volleyball team had 10 players named to the Bearcats Honor Roll, seven named to the Dean's List and three who were named Top Cat Scholars.
Senior Madi Lang (Commerce Township, Mich./Florida Atlantic), junior Emma Roberson (Brooks, Ky./Evansville) and freshman Parker Shepherd (McKinney, Texas/McKinney Boyd) each posted a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall to earn the Top Cat distinction. In all, 25 Cincinnati student-athletes recorded 4.0 GPAs last semester.
In addition to the Top Cat Scholars, junior Morgan Allred (Carrolton, Texas/Hebron), sophomore Ciara Hill (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook), senior Jamie Netisingha (Westmont, Ill./Hinsdale Central) and junior Amelia Wegman (Aurora, Ill./Rosary) were named to the Dean's list with a GPA of 3.4 or higher.
The UC department of athletics posted its highest ever GPA, achieving a 3.137 while the volleyball team accumulated a 3.320 for the fall semester.
A record-breaking 292 Cincinnati student athletes, including 10 members of head coach Molly Alvey's team, were named to the Bearcats Honor Roll after posting a 3.0 or higher GPA.
