CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team used a pair of first-half goals to take a 2-1 decision from IPFW in the final nonconference match of 2015 on Wednesday night at Gettler Stadium.
The Bearcats (7-5-2) got out to an early lead on an 11th-minute goal by Jack Clark (Mason, Ohio/Mason). The Mastadons (3-7) equalized the match in the 15th minute before Emmanuel Appiah (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville Central) scored the game winner in the 35th minute. Cincinnati had several chances to extend the lead in the second 45 minutes, out-shooting IPFW, 13-2, in the second half.

11' - CIN Jack Clark (Terence Carter & Nick Melville)
Nick Melville (Portland, Maine/Iowa Western) dribbled to the top of the box where he then slid it to Terence Carter (London, England/Northeastern) at the top of the box. Carter one-touched it the rest of the way across to Clark, who sent it back across inside the near post for the goal.
15' - IPFW Austin West (Corey Tom)
West equalized the match just four minutes later on a free kick. Corey Tom tapped the free kick from roughly 22 yards out, then West blasted it from the same spot to tie the game.
35' - CIN Emmanuel Appiah
Appiah scored his third game-winning goal of the year in the 35th when he took a throw in from 28 yards out, then sent a knuckler just past the keeper.

- In addition to being his third game-winning goal of the season, Appiah scored his fifth goal of the year. The senior has 13 points on the year, second on the team.
- Clark's goal was the second of his season.
- Cincinnati did not concede a corner kick for the first time in a match this season. The previous low was one corner by Northern Kentucky in the season-opener.
- UC's 25 shots were the most on the year, while the eight shots on goal were second-most, trailing only nine in the IUPUI match.
