30' - Cincinnati - Vanessa Gilles

Off of a throw into the box from sophomore midfielder Taylor Pavlika (Temperance, Mich./Novi/IPFW), sophomore defender Vanessa Gilles (Ottawa, Canada/Louis Riel) headed the ball amidst the crowd into the right side of the net. Friday's pair of goals are Gilles' first of the season.

80' - Cincinnati - Vanessa Gilles

Gilles got on the board again late in the second period when she rebounded a caromed shot off of the left post by sophomore midfielder Jaycie Brown (Wellington, Ohio/Magnificat) and sent it into the left side of the net.

86' - Cincinnati - Danielle Rotheram

Senior forward Laura Rose (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) played the ball through on the near side and fed senior midfielder Danielle Rotheram (Toronto, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic/Central Michigan) on the right flank. Rotheram pushed a low shot past the goalkeeper into the right side of the net for the Bearcats' third goal of the night.

// STAFFORD'S COMMENTS

"It was a good response from the team; we certainly needed it," said head coach Neil Stafford. "I thought we responded very well at UConn, but we just fell short on finishing our chances. Tonight, the players performed admirably, kept a clean sheet. I thought Natalie Smith (Cincinati, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) had a fantastic save near the end of the first period that, I thought, kept us in the game. We kept chiseling away. I thought our movement was dynamic and our ability to press them tonight was quite good."
