CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams secured sweeps of Xavier and Cleveland State on Friday night at the Keating Aquatics Center. The Bearcats scored 14 individual victories against their crosstown rivals and in-state foes.
// WOMEN SWEEP FREESTYLE EVENTS
On the women's side, the Bearcats swept the freestyle events. The day started with Sara Wanasek (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) collecting a victory in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:30.66. The 200 freestyle was next, with Jacqueline Keire (Burlington, Ont./Nelson) winning in 1:49.06.
Keire continued her strong evening in the 50 free, touching the wall in 23.27, 1.39 seconds ahead of Xavier's Clarie Brolsma. Freshman Amanda Deller (Fairfield, Ohio/McAuley) got in on the act in the 100 freestyle, which Keire sat out, taking the event with a time of 53.34.
Wanasek then finished the sweep she started by winning the 500 free in 5:06.93.
// BREADY LEADS MEN ON FREESTYLE
Chris Bready (Missouri City, Texas/Lawrence E. Elkins) earned a victory in the 1,000 freestyle, finishing in 9:16.76, winning by nearly 50 seconds. He followed that up with a runner-up finish in the 500 freestyle, clocking in at 4:32.65, just four seconds behind Cleveland State's MacJilton Lewis.
The Bearcats also collected a one-two finish in the 200 freestyle, with Connor Davis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) touching at 1:42.41, just ahead of Justin Crew (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) who finished in 1:44.04.
// WOMEN SWEEP BACKSTROKE
The Bearcats won both women's backstroke events. Lindsey Niehaus (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) won the 100 backstroke in 56.88. The 200 backstroke saw Tal Kidron (Tsurit, Israel/Hof HaSharon) collect first-place points in 2:05.66.

Cincinnati collected a one-two-three finish int he 100 breaststroke. Kennedy Herbert (Green, Ohio/Green) won with a mark of 1:05.90. She was followed by Carlie Perretta (Canton, Ohio/Perry) in 1:05.99 and Enna Selmanovic (Mississauga, Ont./Clarkson Secondary) in 1:06.56.
It was even better in the 200 breaststroke, with a one-two-three-four finish. Selmanovic was first this time, clocking in at 2:23.12. Dee Sopapong (Tampa, Fla./Wharton) was second at 2:23.73, then Andrea Bartel (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) at 2:24.21 and Geraldine Huffner (Sainte Clotilde, France/Font Romeu) at 2:24.45.
// 100 INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY DEBUT
The meet featured the 100 individual medley for the first time. Keire earned a first-place finish in the women's event, touching at 59.03. She was followed by Sopapong in 1:01.30 and Caroline Sheehan (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) at 1:01.66.
The top finisher for UC on the men's side was Tyler Roehr (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove), who placed second with a time of 53.64.4

UC saw its women go one-two on the one-meter board. Ellen Posch (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) placed first with a score of 243.15. Tori Ritter (Littleton, Colo./Rock Canyon) was second with a mark of 231.50. Louis Hunt (Lakeside Park, Ky./Covington Catholic) was the top finisher on the men's side, placing second with a score of 247.30.
On the three-meter board, Posch again collected the victory, this time with a score of 245.55. Hunt was again the top finisher for the men in second place with a mark of 262.75.

The Bearcats face a busy weekend with a pair of meets. On Friday, Oct. 23, UC travels to Huntington, West Virginia, to face Marshall and VMI. The next day, Saturday, Oct. 24, Cincinnati visits former conference rival Louisville.
