DALLAS
– The University of Cincinnati volleyball team had its four-match win streak snapped in a 3-0 (18-25, 25-27, 18-25) loss at league-leading SMU on Friday night in Dallas, Texas. It is the first loss for the Bearcats since Oct. 4.

Freshman Abby Williams (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) led the Bearcats with 13 digs while freshman Carly Nolan (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) had 13 kills.

// NOTABLES
- With the loss, Cincinnati falls to 13-7 on the year and 5-4 in The American while SMU improves to 18-3 and 8-1.
- Freshman Jordan Thompson (Edina, Minn./Edina) had 12 kills and has recorded double-digit kill totals in 14 consecutive matches.
- Williams finished with 13 digs and has finished with double-digit digs in all but one match this season.
- Freshman Jade Tingelhoff (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) dished out 31 assists for the Bearcats.

"I am very proud of our team" said head coach Molly Alvey. "We played a team of veterans in SMU and did some really great things on the court both offensively and defensively. We got better tonight which is what the game is about. You must get better each time you step on the court. I believe this particular match gave us experience in the areas we needed experience in and helped prepare us for the remainder of conference play."

// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: SMU 25, UC 18

- The teams were tied at 7-7 until SMU scored three straight points, including a kill and a block, for a 10-7 lead and a UC timeout.
- SMU connected for three straight blocks to go ahead 21-15 in the match.
- The Mustangs capitalized on two UC ball handling errors to win the opening set 25-18.
Set 2: SMU 27, UC 25
- A block by sophomore Maya Muldrow (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) and Tingelhoff got the Bearcats within 7-4 but an SMU kill and block extended the Mustangs' lead to 9-4.
- The Bearcats cut the deficit to 14-12 after a kill by Thompson and an SMU attacking error.
- The Mustangs led 24-20 before the Bearcats mounted a furious comeback, scoring five straight points to go ahead 25-24. Sophomore Cortnee Bowser (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt), senior Emma Roberson (Brooks, Ky./Evansville) and Nolan all recorded kills during the run for Cincinnati.
- SMU responded with three straight points to win 27-25.
Set 3: SMU 25, UC 18
- Cincinnati opened a 4-0 lead early in the game with a pair of kills by Roberson and a kill by Nolan.
- The Mustangs then mounted a four-point scoring run to take a 10-9 lead. Two UC attacking errors and two SMU kills contributed to the rally.
- A five-point SMU run gave the Mustangs an 18-14 lead before they closed out the set with four consecutive points, including three UC errors.
