Tulsa, Okla. -- The University of Cincinnati volleyball team saw a two-set lead slip away before prevailing in extra points of the fifth set to win 3-2 (25-20, 25-21, 17-25, 20-25, 18-16) on Sunday afternoon in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Freshmen Jordan Thompson (Edina, Minn./Edina), Abby Williams (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) and Jade Tingelhoff (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) all set new career highs during the match while Tingelhoff and freshman Carly Nolan (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) both recorded double-doubles.

- With the victory, Cincinnati improves to 14-7 on the year and 6-4 in The American while Tulsa falls to 10-12 and 5-5.
- Thompson finished with a career-high 27 kills after reaching her previous high mark of 24 on three occasions. She has recorded double-digit kill totals in 15 consecutive matches.
- Williams notched a career-high 25 digs after finishing with 23 twice this season. She has recorded with double-digit digs in all but one match this season.
- Tingelhoff dished out a career-high 51 assists and recorded her ninth-career double-double with 12 digs.
- Nolan recorded her sixth-career double-double with 17 digs and 15 kills.
- Sophomore Maya Muldrow (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) tied a career high with seven kills.
- Senior Emma Roberson (Brooks, Ky./Evansville) tied a career high with four blocks.
- Junior Lise Alaiwan (Villeneuve Loubet, France/Kedge Business School) played in just two sets but led all players with five blocks to tie her career high.
- It was the third five-set match of the season for the Bearcats and the first five-set victory.

"The team pulled out a great win today" said head coach Molly Alvey. "The win came from a complete team effort and we had several players come off the bench and contribute to the victory. This weekend as a whole was a success for our program. It is always tough to go on the road for two matches in four days. The players did a great job pulling out a split on a travel weekend."

Set 1: UC 25, UT 20
- Cincinnati scored three straight points on kills from Muldrow, Nolan and Thompson to take an 11-9 lead in the first set.
- Back-to-back kills by Muldrow and Thompson pushed the UC lead to 18-15 and forced a Tulsa timeout. Four points later, after another Thompson kill and a pair of Tulsa errors, the Golden Hurricane were forced into another timeout with the Bearcats leading 21-16.
- After Tulsa had closed the UC lead to 23-20, Cincinnati responded with two straight points to win the game, including a block by Roberson and Muldrow to close it out.
Set 2: UC 25, UT 21
- The Golden Hurricane scored four of five points to take an 11-8 lead. Tulsa's Rebecca Reeve recorded two kills and a service ace during the rally.
- The teams played close throughout the game, but a Thompson kill broke a 20-20 tie to force a Tulsa timeout. Out of the break, Williams extended the lead to 22-20 with a service ace.
- A block by Roberson and sophomore Cortnee Bowser (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt) gave UC set point and Tulsa's Erica Bohannon hit it long to give the Bearcats the 25-21 win.
- The second set features 10 lead changes and 13 tie scores.
Set 3: UT 25, UC 17
- Cincinnati scored three straight points to tie the score at 11-11 with two kills by Thompson and another by Bowser. The Golden Hurricane quickly responded, however, scoring three points of their own with two blocks and a UC attacking error to go back ahead 14-11.
- Tulsa scored five of six points to extend its lead to 22-15, forcing head coach Molly Alvey into her second timeout of the game.
- UT closed out the set with a kill to win 25-17 and force a fourth game.
Set 4: UT 25, UC 20
- The Bearcats came out firing in the fourth game, going ahead 5-0 on three Thompson kills to force the Golden Hurricane into a timeout.
- Tulsa responded out of the break with a five-point run to tie the score at 5-5 before another Thompson kill gave the Bearcats a 6-5 lead.
- Tulsa scored the next 12 points to go ahead 17-6 until a solo block by Alaiwan ended the run.
- The Bearcats climbed back to within 22-16 to force a Golden Hurricane timeout, but ultimately fell 25-20.
Set 5: UC 18, UT 16
- The teams traded points until a three-point Tulsa run put the home team ahead 5-2.
- The Bearcats responded with three straight points to re-tie the game at 5-5.
- Tulsa led 8-6 at the court switch but the Bearcats scored four points in a row off a strong serve by Tingelhoff, for a 10-8 advantage.
- Tulsa took its second timeout of the game after a UT attacking error pushed the Bearcats to a 12-9 lead. Out of the break, three UC errors tied the score at 12-12 and brought a Cincinnati timeout.
- After Tulsa went ahead 13-12, a kill by Roberson and a Roberson/Muldrow block gave UC match point at 14-13.
- Facing a 16-16 tie, Thompson hit her 27th kill of the match to give the Bearcats match point. On the ensuing serve, a Tulsa attacker hit a ball off the antenna to end the wild fifth game with a 18-16 UC victory.

The Bearcats return home to Fifth Third Arena for the first time since Oct. 11 when they host Temple and UConn on Friday, Oct. 30, (7 p.m.) and Sunday, Nov. 1, (1 p.m.), respectively. The matches will mark the second half of conference play, when UC will face each opponent for the second time this season.
