Cincinnati Comes Back for Draw with Tulsa

After falling behind 1-0 early in the first half, the University of Cincinnati men's soccer team clawed back in the cold and rainy conditions to earn a 1-1 draw against American Athletic Conference defending champion Tulsa on Saturday night at Gettler Stadium.

Tulsa (4-4-2, 0-1-1 American) scored first in the 13th minute on a wonder goal from 30 yards out by Geoffrey Dee. The strike knuckled through the air before finding the top-right corner of the net. The two conference foes remained scoreless the remainder of the half, and he Golden Hurricane carried the 1-0 lead into the locker room.

But the Bearcats (6-4-2, 1-0-1 American) rallied early in the second half when Christian Hay (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) scored of a UC free kick in the 49th minute for his first goal of the season. Freshman Adam Wilson (Auchterarder, Scotland/Dollar Academy) bent in a free kick from just outside the left side of the box, and Hay tapped the service with his right foot into the back of the net to even the match at 1-1.

Pedro Diaz (Mason, Ohio/Mason) played a quality match in goal as he recorded six saves to help Cincinnati earn the point.

Tulsa snagged a one-goal lead in the 13th minute when Geoffrey Dee knuckled a shot from 30 yards out that found the top-right corner of the goal.

The Bearcats knotted up the score at 1-1 off an Adam Wilson free kick. Wilson bent a cross in from just outside the left side of the box, and Hay redirected the service at the center of the box with his right foot for his first career goal.
