BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The University of Cincinnati swimming team competed on day one at the Hoosierland Invitational, highlighted by Chris Bready hitting an Olympic trials cut in the morning session and Jacqueline Keire winning the 50 freestyle in the evening session.

The meet is formatted into a morning preliminary session in long course meters in order to swim for Olympic trial cut times, with an evening finals session in short course yards.

The highlight of the first session came when Bready (Missouri City, Texas/Lawrence E. Elkins) finished the 400-meter freestyle in 3:57.89, just ahead of the cut time of 3:58.69. He placed second in the prelim session before finishing seventh in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:26.01.

Keire (Burlington, Ont./Nelson) secured the lone Bearcats victory of the day in evening session. She finished the 50-yard freestyle in 22.60. Keire had the fastest 50-meter freestyle time in the morning session at 26.04.

Action in Bloomington, Indiana, resumes tomorrow with preliminary action at 11 a.m. and the evening finals session at 6 p.m. In addition, the UC divers will begin competition at the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio.
