Men and Women Place Second at Kenyon Invitational

GAMBIER, Ohio --
The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams both placed second to Division III powerhouse Kenyon College over the weekend at the Kenyon Invitational. The Bearcats were led by a pair of first-place finishes each by Jacqueline Keire and Chris Bready.

// WOMEN'S RECAP

Keire (Burlington, Ont./Nelson) earned first-place points in the 100 and 200 freestyles. She completed the 100 in 50.92, while the touched in the 200 in 1:50.94. Keire also earned runner-up finishes in the 100 butterfly (58.00) and 200 individual medley (2:07.07).

Lindsey Niehaus (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) collected the only other women's victory of the weekend in the 100 backstroke. She clocked in at 57.48, just ahead of Oakland's Patricia Aschan who finished in 57.66.

The women finished the meet with 941 points, behind Kenyon's 1,044 and ahead of Oakland's 796 points.

Bready (Missouri City, Texas/Lawrence E. Elkins) led the men with a pair of individual wins. He finished the 500 freestyle in 4:34.89 to take first-place points, while he clocked-in at 9:23.34 to win the 1,000 freestyle. Bready also placed third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:42.93.

Matt McDonald (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East) scored the other individual win for the men, taking the 200 backstroke in 1:52.37.

The UC men also took first-place points in a pair of relays to bookend the meet. Dmytro Turkin (Krivoy Rog, Ukraine), Ludovico Corsini (Cinisello Balsamo, Italy), Hunter Pasek (Villa Hills, Ky./Covington Catholic) and Connor Davis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) won the 200 medley relay to open action with a time of 1:32.83. UC then collected the 400 freestyle relay in the final event of the weekend, with Davis, Eitan Holder (Caracas, Venezuela/Aviv (Israel)), Turkin and Alex Hutchinson (Harrison, Ohio/Ohio State) finishing in 3:04.53.

The men placed second, scoring 1,005 points, just behind Kenyon's 1,015 points. Oakland placed third with 780 points.

The Bearcats return to the Keating Aquatics Center for the final time this season to host a tri-meet with Virginia Tech and Wright State. Swimming action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., with senior day ceremonies set for 9:30 a.m.
