// MEET CENTRAL | Camera Keire's 200 Free Win

HOUSTON --
Jacqueline Keire won her seventh career conference championship as the University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams set a pair of records on day three of the 2016 American Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.

Keire (Burlington, Ont./Nelson) captured the 200 freestyle with a meet record, while the women's 400 medley relay set a school record with a runner-up finish.

// 400 INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY
Andrea Bartel (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) was the top finisher in the 400 individual medley, placing sixth with a time of 4:23.40. Teammate Samantha Wheatley (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) was just as big a story. After missing a spot in the championship heat by three one-hundredths of a second, Wheatley came back to win the consolation final in a time of 4:20.54 which would have been good for fourth in the A-final.

On the men's side, it was Bearcats in third, fourth and fifth. Ryan DePietro (Lancaster, Ohio/Lancaster) led the way, making the podium thanks to a final time of 3:25.46. He was followed by Brandon Keller (Charlotte, N.C./Olympic) in fourth at 3:54.21 and Matt McDonald (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East) in fifth at 3:56.50.

// 100 BUTTERFLY
Senior Iuliia Fedoreeva (Barnaul, Russia) was the lone UC representative in the championship heat of the women's 100 fly, finishing eighth with a time of 55.08.

Eitan Holder (Caracas, Venezuela) was the Bearcat in the men's championship heat, placing sixth with a time of 48.78.

// 200 FREESTYLE
It was the type of performance people have come to expect from Keire in the 200 freestyle. She posted the quickest preliminary time of 1:47.19 before winning by nearly four seconds with a finals time of 1:43.87. It broke her own meet record from a season ago.

The men's 200 free saw Connor Davis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) and Holder placed seventh and eighth with times of 1:39.26 and 1:41.18, respectively.

// 100 BREASTSTROKE
Kennedy Herbert (Green, Ohio/Green) led the way for the women, posting a finals time of 1:02.06 which was good for fifth place. UC swimmers went one-two in the consolation final with Gege Huffner (Sainte Clotilde, France) winning the heat in 1:02.61 and Carlie Perretta placing second in 1:02.82.

On the men's side, the Bearcats placed a pair on the podium. Ludovico Corsini (Cinisello Balsamo, Italy) placed second with a mark of 54.07, while teammate Zach Hostoffer (Highland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy)was third in 54.78. Tyler Roehr (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) joined the duo in the A-final, placing seventh with a mark of 55.57.

// 100 BACKSTROKE
Dmytro Turkin (Krivoy Rog, Ukraine) was the lone UC swimmer in a championship heat for the 100 back. He placed fifth with a time of 48.74.

// 400 MEDLEY RELAY
The Bearcats women posted a time of 3:39.74 to set the school record and earn a runner-up finish in the 400 medley relay. Lindsey Niehaus (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton), Herbert, Fedoreeva and Keire swam, with Keire completing the anchor in 47.29.

// BEARCATS ON THE BOARD
The only diving competition on the day was the men's three-meter. Louis Hunt (Lakeside Park, Ky./Covington Catholic) was UC's top finisher with a score of 280.80 which was good for ninth.

// DAY FOUR PREVIEW
The final day of the conference meet includes platform diving, the mile, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay. Swimming preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. ET, with diving preliminaries at 1:30 p.m. ET. Finals sessions begin at 7 p.m. ET.
