TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team was defeated 82-49 by the No. 19 USF Bulls on Wednesday evening inside the USF Sun Dome.
// THE SHORT STORY
Facing their fifth nationally-ranked opponent of the season, the Bearcats got into a bit of a hole early. UC trailed 20-9 at the end of the opening period and trailed by as many as 12 in the second quarter. UC answered to cut its deficit to six in the second period, but saw the Bulls respond to take a 31-22 advantage into halftime. Cincinnati stormed out of the break to cut its deficit to four, 31-27, but saw the Bulls outscore it 24-9 over the duration of the third quarter. The home team was able to increase its lead throughout the final period, outscoring the Bearcats 25-13 en route to an 82-49 victory.

- The Bearcats fell behind early, 16-5, with sophomore guard Ana Owens (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) scoring each of UC's five points. UC then went into the second quarter facing a 20-9 deficit.
- Cincinnati faced a deficit as large as 12 points, but battled back with a 6-0 run to cut its deficit to six points, 21-15, on an Owens free throw with 7:22 to go before halftime. Over the duration of the second period, the Bulls edged the Bearcats, 10-7, to take a 31-22 advantage into the break.
- UC stormed out of halftime scoring the first five points of the period to pull within four, 31-27, on an Owens three-pointer with 8:40 to go in the third quarter. USF then countered with a 13-5 surge to lead 44-32 with 4:04 remaining in the stanza. The Bulls continued their burst over the duration of the period, outscoring Cincinnati 13-4 to lead 57-36 heading into the final quarter. UC was then outscored 25-13 in the final frame as USF pulled away for an 82-49 win.
