CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati track and field team concluded action on its annual Spring Break trip Saturday morning as Bearcats competed in a trio of races at the Raleigh Relays on the North Carolina State campus, bringing back a pair of school records in the relay events. Both the men's and women's 4x1,500m relay teams recorded UC records in their respective events to close out the day.
The men's relay took the track first and clocked in at 16:00.58 to finish fourth overall in the race and matched the school record that was run 2004. The four runners included Seamus Collins (4:01), Ian Sliver (3:59), Dan Huben (3:59) and Jarrod Hart (4:00). The women followed on the track and combined to run 19:16.04 to place sixth overall and smash the school record by nearly one minute. The group, which broke the previous mark of 20:12.75 run last year, was comprised of Tes Corea (4:49), Vanessa Robinson (4:44), Alexis Anton (4:49) and Meg Westerheide (4:52).
In the lone individual race of the day, senior Jacob Franklin ran 31:42.82 to finish 68th overall in the 10,000m run.
Next up for the Bearcats will be their annual home event, the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, set for Friday and Saturday, April 1-2, on the UC campus. Most events will be held at Gettler Stadium with the hammer and javelin throws taking place at Coy Field. A full schedule of events can be found on the track and field web site and the meet will be part of Experience UC. Along with the meet on Saturday, campus will play host to the football spring football game and a home baseball contest against USF. Admission to all events will be complimentary to all fans.
