University of Cincinnati senior Emerson Newsome finished the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship tied for 10th following his final-round 3-under par 69 Tuesday at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss. Newsome completed the event at 2-over 76-73-69=218.
Newsome's third-round 69 tied for the best round of the day among 84 players in the field and featured four birdies and 11 par scores. He records his third top-10 finish of the year and his second in three spring tournaments. He finished nine strokes behind tournament winner Braden Thornberry of Ole Miss, who registered a 7-under 71-69-69=209.
Bearcats redshirt junior Blake Hamilton completed the event tied for 26th place at 7-over 74-71-78=223.
Cincinnati finished 10th in the 16-team field at 34-over 301-296-301=898. McNeese State claimed the team title at 2-over 289-283-294=866.
