GREENVILLE, N.C. - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 conference loss to East Carolina Friday afternoon on the road. The Bearcats wrap up the 2016 regular season Sunday afternoon against UConn.

The Pirates picked up the first point of the match with a pair of wins in doubles action. East Carolina grabbed wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3 to earn the first point. The Bearcats were ahead on court No. 2 when play was stopped.

East Carolina carried momentum from doubles into singles play and were able to pick up the first three singles wins to earn the 4-0 conference victory. The Pirates grabbed points on courts No. 1, 4 and 6 to secure the win. Katya Bure (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) was leading on court No. 3 when play was stopped.

"ECU was better in every aspect of the game today," stated head coach Eric Toth. "We all get another chance against UConn on Sunday. Another opportunity to earn a win against a good team which will only help us heading into next weekend's AAC Tournament."

Cincinnati wraps up the regular season on Sunday with a 12 p.m. match against UConn in Greenville, N.C. The Bearcats begin play at the American Athletic Conference Championship on Wednesday, April 20 in Memphis, Tennessee.
