Fast Start Not Enough As Bearcats Fall To No. 2 Florida

CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team jumped out to a 2-0 lead on second-ranked Florida , but dropped a 17-5 BIG EAST decision to the Gators on Wednesday afternoon at the Sheakley Athletics Center.

Megan Bell scored twice in her final home game as a Bearcat, while fellow senior Kyara Byner caused six turnovers in the effort. UC caps its regular season with a pair of road games at Temple (April 23) and Marquette (April 29).

Head coach Gina Oliver wanted the Bearcats to start fast and the Bearcats did just that, with Curtis scoring less than a minute into the contest. It was UC's quickest goal of the season.

Bell recorded her 22nd goal of the season less than a minute later to spot the Bearcats to a 2-0 lead.

24:33 1st - UF Nicole Graziano (Lindsey Ronbeck)
Graziano, the fourth-leading scorer in the BIG EAST, gave the Gators their first lead, 3-2. It was part of an eight-goal run by Florida that resulted in an 8-3 lead. After a UC goal, the Gators scored the final five goals of the first half to take a 13-3 lead into the locker room.

Bell, a fifth-year senior, scored her final home goal in the red and black early in the first half to cut the deficit to 13-4. The Gators out-scored UC, 4-2, in the second half to provide the final margin of 17-5.
