Second-Half Rally Falls Short At Temple

PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team dropped its penultimate game of the season on Saturday afternoon at Temple, falling to the Owls, 10-4. The Bearcats fought back from a 5-1 halftime deficit to pull within two goals, 6-4, midway through the second period, before the hosts rattled off the final four scores.

UC didn't have an answer for Temple's Brenda McDermott, who recorded six points on the day. Cincinnati had four different goal scorers, while Sarah Del Bene assisted on two of those goals. Meg Gulmi made eight saves in the cage for the Bearcats.

27:16 1st - TU Nicole Tiernan (Brenda McDermott)
McDermott helped the Owls jump out to an early 2-0 lead by scoring her own unassisted goal before assisting on Tiernan's just 24 seconds later.

23:46 1st - CIN Courtney Curtis
Curtis cut the lead in half by scoring her 22nd of the season. Unfortunately, it would be the only first-half score for the Bearcats.

11:16 1st - TU Brenda McDermott
McDermott put the Owls back up two goals, 3-1, just over two minutes after Curtis scored, then extended the lead to 4-1 after neither team scored for over 10 minutes.

25:49 2nd - CIN Skylar DeLemos (free position)
DeLemos found the back of the cage for the second time of the season. It followed a Bell goal by just 13 seconds and got the Bearcats back in the game, trailing, 5-3.

15:42 2nd- CIN Bridget Cleary (Sarah Del Bene)
The Bearcats again closed the gap to two goals, this time making it 6-4 midway through the second half, when Cleary scored off a feed from Del Bene.

8:49 2nd - TU Kirstie Connor (Brenda McDermott)
McDermott helped salt the game away for the hosts, first assisting on a goal by Megan Pinkerton with just over 10 minutes to play, before setting-up Connor 1:22 later to make it 8-4 Owls. Rachel Schwaab scored a man-up goal before Avery Longstaff provided the final margin of 10-4.
